It all began with the thought that having a VPS with its own domain would not only be convenient, but also just... cool to play and tinker with (and it is! If you've ever thought of whether you should get yourself a publicly accessible server, I say yay, though modern prices don't make that very accessible anymore).
Getting a VPS was pretty easy (I managed to get a good deal on Hetzner before they spiked prices), but the big thing that was holding me back was the domain - not because it was hard to register one, but because I couldn't think of one! Most domain ideas I could think of very already taken - not surprising just how many people there are - which left me quite stuck. Eventually, though... I wondered - we have memes such as John Helldiver, John Port, John X... surely someone had thought of John Internet..?
Turns out - they had not! So I quickly bought johninternet.com for use in my websites (surprisingly cheap too - roughly a dollar a month), and set everything up. As a bonus, a friend of mine pointed out that johninter.net is even cooler. I agreed, so bought that as well for use here. And so, I am John Internet!
...not that I've contributed anything to the internet to deserve the title, but... I needed an interesting domain! This one is interesting enough, I think.
